Grand Canyon

Travel in Arizona and you may be surprised!

Arizona is NOT just a Desert.

There are a variety of amazing sights and diverse terrains to witness. From the Majestic Grand Canyon to the rugged high desert, Arizona offers a wide variety of landscapes, climates and activities!  Arizona is so diverse – one minute you are in 360 day a year sunshine and in an hour you are in the cool pine country.

The Grand Canyon along the northern border of Arizona, offers an inspiring landscape with breath taking views and inspiring scenery. Northern Arizona offers snow and plenty of pine trees. Ski at the Snow Bowl in Flagstaff, explore the lava fields found at Sunset Crater or dig for Dinosaur fossils  found in Tuba City north east of Flagstaff.  Take a drive along the historic Route 66 and stop along the way to view the Arizona Meteor Crater.  Travel south through Oak Creek Canyon into scenic Sedona. Here you can take a jeep ride, play golf or simply shop and take in the arts.  .

If you want to catch site of indian ruins,  view a five-story 12th-century cliff dwelling at Montezuma Castle National Monument  or  spot the Tuzigoot pueblo ruins along the Verde River. The early native Americans inhabiting Arizona were clever and creative, constructing impressive villages.

As you reach the central part of Arizona, you will observe the unique terrain of the beautiful Sonoran Desert. Here you can see  unique animals and plant life or relax at a luxury resort in the greater Phoenix metro area. Take in some world class shopping, dining and entertainment in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix has a subtropical arid climate offering warm summers and mild winters with an average 85% of possible sunshine. Definitely a Mecca for the winter snowbirds who descend on the area in groves to escape undesirable snowy weather.

As you travelto southern Arizona, you will discover a high desert. So, even though you are further south the temperatures are lower due to the higher elevation.  Tucson is nestled at the base of  stricking Mount Lemmon in the Santa Catalina Mountains located in the Coronado National Forest.  This looming mountain towers 9,157 feet (2,791 m) above sea-level, and receives approximately 180 inches of snow annually!

Travel west and you are in California; north you are in Nevada, Utah or Colorado; east you find New Mexico; and south you are in Mexico! Don’t hurry through this magnificent state. Stay a while and explore the diversity!

Rich with heritage dating back to the old west, Arizona is very eclectic with a fusion of the Old West, California influence, and Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. One of the the few states whose cultural differences are so perspicuous, you would think you were in a completely different state as you travel from city to city.
